Four arrests were made after a group of around 100 masked German fans attacked England fans at a pub near Wembley before Monday’s game.
Preparations for the Nations League game were overshadowed by the incident outside the Green Man Pub, a venue frequented by fans before Three Lions games.
There were some unsavory scenes at the Green Man Pub in Wembley
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the group who carried out the attack were wearing English hats and scarves, but it is believed that they were in fact German.
The Met added that “a number of people” suffered head and facial injuries and are aware of three people who suffered serious leg, wrist and thumb injuries.
Four arrests have been confirmed to have been made in connection with the disorder.
A statement said: “At 5:50pm on Monday 26 September a group of approximately 100 men, many wearing masks, approached a pub on Dagmar Avenue in Wembley through an alley leading to the car park led.
“While some of the group wore English hats and scarves, it is believed they were German fans.
“The group entered the beer garden and began attacking customers, most of whom were in the area to watch the England v Germany game.

Unfortunately, events outside Wembley have become a topic of conversation
“Blows and projectiles, including traffic cones, were thrown. Officers responded and the group fled. The disruption lasted about two minutes.
“Some people suffered head and facial injuries. We are also aware of three people with serious leg, wrist and thumb injuries. None of the injured are said to be in mortal danger.
“So far there have been four arrests related to the disorder.”
Meanwhile, an eyewitness – Luke Robinson – said to me: “There’s an entrance at the back of the Green Man and about 50 of them came with masks and English scarves.
“They stormed in, hit everyone and everyone. It took a good five minutes for the police to arrive.
“Many were unwell. People lay unconscious and covered in blood on the ground. Even children – a boy as young as 13 had a bleeding nose.
“One guy was with the paramedics and was still unconscious when we left.
He added: “It’s the most important pub in England. I’ve never experienced it like this and come to every home game. We were there when England played Germany at the European Championships and there was all the trouble about the final, but this is the first time I’ve seen it that way.”

Southgate welcomed the support of the English faithful at Wembley
The game itself ended 3-3, with England coming back from a 2-0 deficit to take a point against Germany.
The Three Lions fell 2-0 after Harry Maguire missed a penalty that Ilkay Gundogan converted and then the much-maligned defender gave the ball away in build-up to a fine Kai Havertz strike.
But goals from Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and a penalty from Kane gave the hosts a 3-2 lead before an error from goalkeeper Nick Pope gave Havertz a second to deny England a win in the final game before the World Cup.
