House Of The Dragon fans suspect Matt Smith’s character, Daemon Targaryen, may be bisexual after leaked footage of deleted scenes

Viewers of HBO’s hit Game Of Thrones prequel series House Of The Dragon have come up with a new fan theory about one of their most beloved characters.

The excitement began after Daemon Targaryen (played by Matt Smith) glared suggestively at a male server during a restaurant dining scene The sixth episode from Sunday.

Fans began to theorize that Smith’s character might be bisexual, and a leaked still from what appears to be an unaired scene seems to have helped fuel the theories.

‘This interaction between Daemon and the server was very interesting… could Daemon be a bi-legend?’ wrote the bill House of the Dragon taken out of context on Twitter on Monday.

It contained stills of the broadcast scene showing Smith looking into the eyes of his long-haired waiter, while a second still appeared to show him leaning towards his ear to say something.

The account returned with a second still with an HBO Max watermark. It shows Daemon and the server sitting side by side, with the server leaning towards Daemon’s face as if they are about to kiss or talk face to face.

He also has his hand on Daemon’s groin.

“Confirmed by this deleted scene, Daemon Targaryen is a bisexual king,” the account added via People.

“Daemon is NOT bisexual in the books,” insisted one fan.

Others complained that Daemon wasn’t necessarily bisexual in the lyrics, but that another character was described as queer, but that side was shown in House Of The Dragon.

Another commenter claimed that if teased in deleted scenes but ultimately not featured in the official series, the storyline amounted to “queerbaiting”.

“If they don’t put it on the show, it’s just queerbaiting — and why is that even necessary when they have Laenor to work with?” they wrote.

Queerbaiting describes when fictional entertainment suggests that a character is part of the LGBTQ community without explicitly portraying them as such.

The practice is sometimes used to lure LGBTQ fans, although the practice has been derided as a form of fake representation.

It’s not clear if Daemon’s sexuality will be more definitively revealed as the series progresses.

Smith hasn’t opened up about his character’s direction, but he did joke about the abundance of sex scenes on Game Of Thrones shows in an interview with Rolling Stone.

“You ask yourself, ‘Do we need it Another sex scene?” said the Doctor Who star. “And they say, ‘Yes, we do.'”

However, he added that the amount of nudity and number of sex scenes was “a bit too much if you ask me”.

However, he continued, “I think you must be asking yourself, ‘What are you doing? Represent the books, or dilute the books to represent time [we’re living in]”And I think it’s actually your job to truthfully and honestly portray the books as they were written.”
